Ethical guidelines

It is the responsibility of the NAISS user to ensure that research conducted at NAISS resources adheres to Swedish legislation, as demanded by the NAISS User Agreement (dnr LiU-2022-05165).

Ethical issues might have been raised by the research project. It is the responsibility of the Principle Investigator, PI, to address these issues, and provide a justification for why the research should be carried out. Some research may only be conducted if it has passed an ethical review.

Research involving humans requires a permit from the Swedish Ethical Review Authority to protect human beings – physically and mentally – and their integrity. Research involving animals requires a permit from an animal ethics committee.

Depending on the type of research, other permits may be needed. When you apply for SNIC resources, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the permits and approvals required for that research.

When conducting research you must ensure at all times that the project follows good research practice.
