Outi Tammisola
Outi Tammisola is a Professor in Fluid Mechanics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. She is studying how the flow of complex liquids can be improved by adding polymers to create elastic turbulence. The models her project is running require lots of computing power.

Professor Staffan I Lindberg at Gothenburg University is running the largest and most established democracy index in the world, V-Dem (Varieties of Democracy). He realised early on that they needed large-scale compute resources to process the 600 variables collected annually from every country.

Gemma Atkinson at Lund University uses AlphaFold to search through bacterial genomes to discover new immune systems. She is a heavy user of NAISS resources. “We need a lot of power, so we use everything. We are doing so much!” she explains.
